ATTENTION NEW BLOG ALERT; Is My Sister a Walker(name of zombies from the Walking Dead)?

Have you ever wondered if the people in your family were really from outer space or friendly zombies?  I sure have questioned why my sister consistently gets on my last nerve very other month and still remains my sister.  That explains that I am alive because I am responding to my environment by being irritated about "sibling stuff", but what about her.  The Characteristics of Life helped me generate some evidence which determined that she was in fact human, and not a walker.  Oh well, life moves on and now you will also provide evidence that supports that a family member is actually a living thing by using the Characteristics of Life as your guide.  May the force be with you!  Create a short video clip that uses the 7 characteristics of life to determine if something/someone is intact alive.  You may use your family pet, your cousin, little brother, mom, a house plant, etc.  Have fun and make sure that you use a willing participant.  Your video clip cannot exceed 2 minutes and must use appropriate language and respect towards one another.  Use the following script to guide you through the experience but feel free to make your own clean and neat version.

Video script must include but is not limited to;

1. Cells.  I know my mother is a living thing and has cells because her skin is radiant and glows..... Mom, did you know that new skin cells are created every 7 days?  This is just an example,  you will have a better example I am sure.

2.  Energy/Metabolism.  I know my little brother has energy used through food he metabolizes because he likes to jump in the bed, run around, do jumping jacks, sing. etc....please be creative here and have your family member act out their version of energy.  You and your sibling could race to see who is faster.  Again, just my thoughts.

3.  All living things reproduce.  I am completely convinced that my dad/mom can reproduce because I am her offspring.  My grandmother is an example of a living thing because she and my grandfather had 8 children and one of them is my father.

4.  DNA.  "Everyone says that I look just like my daddy/grandma because...or I am so grateful that my mother has a great nose because she passed here genes to me and our noses look alike.  This is a great moment to show off a trait that you and your family member have in common.

5.  Respond to environment/stimuli.  Whenever I tickle my little sister, she laughs or whenever I pinch my little brother, he says ouch, or whenever I kiss my grandmother on the cheek, she smiles.(you must act this one out on the video and please be creative and respectful).

6. Grow and Develop.  My brother had a short hair cut 2 years ago and now his locks are past his shoulders.  Hair growth is just one example but there are many more that you may use.

7.  Evolution.  This is when your family member talks about you and how you have matured since the first day that you attended SEED DC.  They may discuss how you have evolved and your grades have  improved or your attitude has changed for the better.  Allow them to reflect on a moment that shows evolution within you as a student and citizen.

Again these are just examples of statements you may use but you must demonstrate an example of all seven characteristics of life in order to receive full credit.  You must tape your video with your family member.  This assignment is due on or before Wednesday, September 23, 2015, 11:59pm.
Make sure your blog is titled , Intro to Life Video with _______(your name here) and please be sure to label it Characteristics of Life.  Failure to label will deduct points from your total score
This assignment is worth 20 points towards your weighted projects category.

Happy Blogging Scholars..BTW Oct. 11 is the start of the new season #walkingdead

Osmosis & Diffusion (Wandell Roy)

The osmosis is when molecules are used to spread across water!

Diffusion is when molecules go from high to low concentration!

Semi-Permeable Membrane is what allows certain substances to transfer in & out of the cell!
Hypertonic Solution is when there's more solute than solvent!
Hypotonic Solution is when there's more solvent than solute!

Osmosis & Diffusion (JieJer Patrick)

This picture shows channel proteins because  all living things or food pass through in which in this  cause this lets water pass through to get to a living thing

All about me ( Brianna Brown)

Cell- a basic unit of life.
My skin is a cell

Solution

This is an example of a solution because it took several ingredients to make it

All about me ( Brianna Brown)

I have organs for example. My intestines are organs. The largest organ on my body is my skin. I try to keep my intestines clean by drinking water

Osmosis & Duffision (JieJer Patrick)

This picture shows hypertonic because if I pour this whole  bag of sugar in that cup of water it would have more salute

Osmosis and diffusion.

This is an example of osmosis because the water is moving through the brush

Osmosis/ diffusion

This fans shows Diffusion in which it gathers the molecules when spinning the blades really fast then shoots them outward which is movement.

Osmosis & Diffusion (JieJer Patrick)

This picture represent semi-permeable membrane.  Which is not letting Nothing  coming out the closet

Osmosis & Diffusion (JieJer Patrick)

This picture represent diffusion.  Diffusion is the movement of molecules from an area of high concentrations to area of low conecentration

All about me ( Brianna Brown)

My baby cousin would represent a  carbohydrate.
Carbohydrate- are organic compounds composed of carbon, hydron, and oxygen. This things are present in all living things so my cousin has carbohydrates in her.

All about me ( Brianna Brown)

On Saturday's my mother fixes a nice big breakfast. The eggs and bacon represents protein.
Protein - transports oxygen through the body'

All about me (Brianna Brown)

I enjoy wild life and this Buck would be and example of an organsim.
Organsim-any living thing

Osmosis and Diffusion(Brianna Brown

Diffusion-movement of molecules from high concentration to low.  The inhaler represents this because when you spray it, it goes from high which is inside the bottle to low.

Osmosis and Diffusion(Brianna Brown)

Osmosis- is movement of water across a semipermeable membrane.  The egg represents the membrane, while the solutions like the vinegar, creates the movement across the membrane.

Osmosis And Diffusion ( Dejha πŸ’š)

Semi-Permeable Membrane: It Prevent Things From Coming Out Of It
Example: The jar is preventing air from getting inside of it

Osmosis And Diffusion (Dejha πŸ’š)

Hypertonic Solution : When there is more solute then there is water
Example: there is only 1/2 of cup of water in the bowl and there is 1 cup of salt in the bowl

Osmosis And Diffusion (Dejha πŸ’š)

Hypotonic Souloution: When it has less soulute then water
Example: it is more water then it is salt (salt is a solute)

Osmosis and Diffusion(Brianna Brown)

Hypertonic solution- is when water diffuses out of cell, this means it has more salt , or sugars. The hot salsa represents a hypertonic solution.

Osmosis and Diffusion(Brianna Brown)

Hypotonic solution- water diffuses into cell which means that it has less salt.

Regular fresh water would be and example of a hyptonic . It didn't contain lots of salt like salt water

Osmosis & Diffusion ( Genai Brown)

Semi- permeable- it only allows certain substances to be transferred into and out of the cell
This is an example of semi-permeable because it allows air to flow in and out.

Osmosis and Diffusion(Brianna Brown)

Selectively permeable- only allows certain substances to enter the cell.

The salt shaker holes represents the vocab word, because the holes only allow small things to enter

Osmosis & Diffusion ( Genai Brown)

Hypotonic- Molecules outside the cell are higher than the concentration in the cystol.
This is an example of Hypotonic because salt shows how it will solute

Osmosis & Diffusion (Genai Brown)

Diffusion - the movement of molecules from an high concentration.
This is an example of Diffusion because if I spray this it will spread all over the room

Osmosis & Diffusion (Daisha Thompson)

This is a picture of Channel proteins. Channel Proteins allow glucose or food that all living things to live or pass through. In that case everything needs water in order to live or pass thru.

Osmosis & diffusion (Daisha Thompson)

This is a picture of Hypertonic Solution. Hypertonic solution is when there is more  solute than solvent. In that case there is more salt than water. There is salt around my finger and my hand and in the sink.

Osmosis & Diffusion (Daisha Thompson)

This is an picture of Semi Permeable Membrane. An Semi permeable membrane is an molecule that only allows certain molecules to enter and exit it. This object allows air to come thru but doesn't allow bugs to come thru mainly for people's safety.

Osmosis And Diffusion (Girnae πŸ’™)

Osmosis: Is The Movement Of Water Across A Cell Membrane.
   - The Egg Is The Cell , And The Water Is Moving Across The Cell To Send In A Ceratin Flavor To The Egg πŸ’™

Osmosis And Diffusion (Girnae πŸ’™)

Hypotonic Solution:  When There Is More Solute Than Solvent
It's A Half Full Glass Of Water With 2 Cups Of Salt Being Poured Into It πŸ’™

Osmosis and Diffusion (Daisha Thompson)

This is a picture of diffusion. Diffusion is an area of movement from high concentration to low concentration. If I was to spray this Lysol in my room, after while you will start to smell it in other parts of the house.
One because it's an area of movement and two is people it's an very strong chemical.

Osmosis And Diffusion (Girnae πŸ’™)

Semi- Permeable Membrane: Only Allows Certain Molecules Through To Enter It And Exit It.
   - It Enters Air, But Doesn't Allow Bugs To Come Through The Window πŸ’™
