3D cell MODEL PROJECT (Brianna)

3D Cell ( Jamilya & Larry )

1. What kind of cell did you make and what are three distinguishing characteristics(cell parts, shape, etc) that made your cell different from the other types of cells? Make sure that you include the functions of the cell parts that you mention for full credit.

1A. I did a plant cell. It is square, it has a cell wall- a structural layer that surrounds some types of cells also outsided the cell membrane, and a large central vacuole- a large container that holds waste.

2.   All cells have three major jobs that are needed in order to sustain homeostasis.  What are theses three basic functions?

2A. To reproduce, make proteins, and make energy.

3. What is a Stem Cell and where do stem cells come from?

3a. A Stem Cell is a cell that has genetic information in the plant tissue.

4. What are some potential uses of Stem Cells?

4a. Stem Cells are directed to differentiate into specific cell types. The tissues treat burns, diabetes, and degeneration.

3D Cell Model Project (Daisha Thompson) - Writing is Thinking

1. What kind of cell did you make and what are three distinguishing characteristics that made your cell
different from other types of cells.

1a. I made a Plant Cell. Cell wall is one, Chloroplast is another and lastly the large vacuole. All of these represent the three distinguishing characteristics that made my cell different from the animal cell. The function of the cell wall is a rigid layer of polysaccharides lying outside the plasma membrane of the cells of plants. The function of the chloroplast is a plastid that contains chlorophyll and in which photosynthesis takes place. Lastly the large vacuole is the storage area for water and other substances.

2.All cells have three major jobs that are needed in order to sustain homeostasis. What are these three basic functions?

2a. The three basic functions are Transport of Molecules, Conversion of Energy and lastly Reproduction.

Cell cake (JieJer Patrick)

This is a plant cell. A plant has a rectangular/square like shape. A pant cell is way different from a animal cell. A plant cell has a chloroplast and a big vacuole unlike the animal cell. The animal cell has a small vacuole and no chloroplast.

A cell wall is wall the surround the cell. The cytoplasm is a green pigment its what gives the plants it's green color. The chorolplast captured energy.

The Jobs of a cell is to make protein, make energy, and lastly make more cells

A stem cell is a cell that is capable of giving rise to indefinitely more cells of the same type.

3D Cell Model Project(Tyler Butler)

1. I made a eukaryotic cell called a plant cell and it is different from others because it is a square or rectangler shape and has a cell wall, which is a rigid layer lying outside the plasma membrane. A vacuole  , which is a large water container and it also has centrioles, which is a cylindrical cell structure composed mainly of a protein.

2.Three Major Jobs that cells have are
    Reproduction
    Transport of Molecules
     Conversion of Energy

3. A stem cell is an undifferentiated cell of a multicellular organism that is capable of giving rise to indefinitely more cells of the same type, and from which certain other kinds of cell arise by differentiation. It comes from embryos which has about 150 cells.

Wandell & Sierra Plant Cell Cake

3D Cell Model Project (Girnae Johnson)

1. I had made a prokaryotic cell. My cell is different from others because it has a chloroplast , cell wall, and a Large Vacoule.  The cell wall is a structural layer that surrounds the cell outside the cell membrane.  Chloroplasts works to convert light energy of the sun into sugars that can be used by cells.  Lastly the Large Vacoule , the large Vacoule stores water and other substances.

2. The three basic functions of a cell are
  Transport of Molecules
  Conversion of Energy
  Reproduction

3. A stem cell is a cell that mimics    genetic information and it is located in the  plant tissue

Cell cake(London Seace)

1. I  made a plant cell cake which was re
ctangular just like a plant cell and it had all the organelles that a plant cells are supposed to have. A plant cell is different from a animal cell because it has a cell wall and a bigger vacuole it also has a centrosome in addition to the other organelles a plant cell also does not have  lysosomes.
Centrosome :organizing center
Larger vacuole: to hold materials and waste
Cell wall: hold the structure and shape of the cell
2.A cells major job is to
•make protein
•make energy
•make more cells
3. The stem cells are located in the meristems and plant tissue
4. Stem cells in plants are used to recreate plants . It's like a process of cloning.
Prokaryotes vs. eukaryotes  vendiagram

3D Cell Model Project( your name here) - Writing is Thinking

Draw a Venn diagram and compare and contrast eukaryotes vs prokaryotes.  You may also use your interactive notebook assignment to complete this task.  Take a picture of your Venn diagram and post it to this blog entry.  Do not forget to use your tattoo.

You may answer these questions with your project partner or submit your blog entry separately.  Make sure you embed your first name in your title.  Upload pictures of your cell model and use your model to assist you with your questions about cells and organelles.  Demonstrate your knowledge of cells and the functions of organelles by answering the following questions:

1. What kind of cell did you make and what are three distinguishing characteristics(cell parts, shape, etc) that made your cell different from the other types of cells? Make sure that you include the functions of the cell parts that you mention for full credit.

2.   All cells have three major jobs that are needed in order to sustain homeostasis.  What are theses three basic functions?

3.  What is a stem cell and where do stem cells come from?

4.  What are some potential uses of stem cells?

This blog must be submitted no later than Friday, February 5, 2016 by 11:59pm.  Just a heads up that Friday is the last day of the quarter,  so I will not be able to extend any deadlines for this last assignment.  This blog includes two pictures which must show your tattoo and answers to the questions listed above.  Worth 20 points total.
